What to do in Vienna in Spring
Spring in Vienna is the perfect time to explore the city, to visit open-air events and enjoy the wonderful parks and nature. Vienna has some great places and we have provided some event tips for you to have an amazing time in Vienna during your stay.

Volksgarten
The Volksgarten is one of many beautiful parks located in the inner city of Vienna. It is a very popular place for young and old to sit in the sun and take a relaxing walk through the wonderful garden. It was opened in the year 1823 and was the first official park in Austria, that could be visited by the public. If you want to go out at night, the famous nightclub, also called Volksgarten, is right next to the park. Especially in spring and summer is this one of the most popular nightclubs in Vienna, because of their huge open-air area.

Kahlenberg
The Kahlenberg in the north of Vienna offers one of the best views over the city. It is a very popular place for locals to spend a sunny day with a view. Located in the Wienerwald it's also a nice hiking route and a great outdoor activityi. You will also find a restaurant and a café there, that offers a great view. The best time to visit Kahlenberg are spring and fall.

MQ – Museumsquartier
This is one of the biggest cultural outdoor areas in Vienna and a very popular place among students and young people. The MQ is located at the subway station Museumsquartier at the end of the shopping street Mariahilferstrasse. With its special seats in the courtyard of the MQ, it is a great place for laying in the sun and hang out with friends. Also, try the culinary offers in the courtyard of the MQ and visit the Mumok (museum of modern arts) in Vienna.

Biking & Chilling at the Donaukanal | Danube Canal
The Donaukanal in Vienna offers some great opportunities for active people. You can rent one of the City Bikes, that are offered by the City of Vienna. If you like to be outside and experience Vienna like a local, rent a bike and ride along the Danube Canal. There are many bars and restaurants located along the Donaukanal, like Tel Aviv Beach or Motto am Fluss to grab some food or drinks. You will get a pretty nice sunset from Tel Aviv Beach.

Wiener Prater
The Wiener Prater is the biggest amusement park in Vienna. Everybody knows the Prater for its amusement park including the famous Ferris Wheel (Wiener Riesenrad), but it also offers a huge and beautiful park with a great avenue that is perfect for jogging or renting a bike. We also recommend you to visit one of the most famous restaurants in Vienna, the Schweizerhaus. It offers great beers, wines and typical Austrian food in a pleasant visitor's garden for a perfect spring weather. Make sure to try their famous Stelze (pork leg).

Steiermarkdorf at Rathausplatz
From April 5th to 8th the annual "Steiermarkdorf" will take place at Rathausplatz in front of the city hall of Vienna. The festival is all about Styria (an Austrian region with great culinary offers) and the culture of the southern federal state of Austria. They offer many natural products from Styria, like wine, flowers or traditional food. There will be live music and entertainment as well.

Austrian Food-Festival at the Stadtpark
The annual Food-Festival in Vienna is a must visit for everybody who wants to enjoy Austrian culinary. The event takes place at Stadtpark and runs from May 11th until May 13th. There will be culinary exhibitors from the whole country to treat you with Austrian specialties. Last year the event attracted more than 150.000 visitors.
