The former summer residence of the Habsburgs since 1569 is one of the most cultural and historical monuments in Austria and also a UNESCO World Heritage. The Schoenbrunn Palace is open to the public free of charge and is home to a huge garden, statues, fountains, monuments as well as the Schoenbrunn Zoo (not free of charge). The Palace has 1,441 rooms, 45 of which can be visited. The Gloriette on top of a little hill overlooks the Palace and the Vienna skyline from it's café. Once a year, usually in May, the Vienna Philharmonics perform a free concert to the public at Schoenbrunn, attracting more than 100,000 visitors.Make sure to schedule enough time for your Schoenbrunn visit, as there is a lot to see.
